Job Summary

The HDD Inspector will act as the client's representative on each site, upholding the client's safety standards, environmental policies, and construction specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing the efficiency of construction and identifying potential execution issues before they impact the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the client's representative on site in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
• Review, monitor, and report all applicable contract documents, codes, standards, and legislation that apply to the scope of work and specifically the task being executed.
• Participate in the contractor's daily safety meetings, including JSA's, and conduct CCI-specific JSA's and complete daily inspection and HSE reports.
• Issue and monitor work authorization permits, document complete with photographs, site, and work activities, and collect as-built information.
• Monitor the contractor's adherence to the HDD design and execution plan, reporting any deviations.
• Report on drilling parameters, bit and reamer changes, steering corrections, lost circulation attempts, and adjustments to the drilling plan, drill path changes, and operational changes.
• Conduct a detailed safety checklist to ensure that the contractor's equipment meets industry safety standards and ensure that all equipment has the proper certifications.
• Implement drilling fluid disposal methods, procedures, and locations as per the Mud Disposal Plan, including gathering soil samples for sump compliance and coordinating resources to complete the work.
• Complete the HDD Construction Inspection Report on a daily basis.
• Coordinate emergency response plans, orientations, collect contractor employees' training certificates, and contact lists.
• Source water and organize water withdrawal permits for construction, along with coordinating trucks.
• Write and manage all purchase orders for the work and monitor costs, including resources on site, working time, tools utilized, and rig down time.
• Where required, collect samples of soils and/or cuttings for analysis.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in HDD inspection or management.
• Formal education an asset, but not required.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel for reporting required.
