Position Overview

Thales Canada, within the Defence & Security domain, is committed to enhancing the Canadian Army's Land Command, Control, Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems. These systems are vital for making informed decisions on a daily basis. Collaborating with industry partners, we aim to advance existing networks and applications to support digitized operations, facilitate communication among joint and allied forces, and safeguard against emerging threats.

We are seeking individuals eager to play a pivotal role in the advancement of sophisticated digitized operations for the Canadian Army, both domestically and during international deployments. Opportunities are available across four key LC4ISR programs, which encompass:

  • Systems engineering and integration
  • Core networking
  • Application development
  • Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR)

Key Responsibilities

  • Define candidate architectures for solutions or solution elements that align with stakeholder expectations while adhering to standardization and reuse policies, technology roadmaps, and business strategies.
  • Produce architectural artifacts and review lower-level specifications.
  • Develop and maintain inter-product communication protocols based on business requirements.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and arbitration among various contributors.
  • Create white papers, studies, analyses, and technical recommendations.
  • Present architectural proposals to stakeholders and guide technical discussions.
  • Document and maintain an up-to-date architectural model.
  • Record minutes for architectural discussions, summarizing key points and actions.
  • Contribute to the long-term vision and strategy for products and solutions.
  • Stay current with best practices, methodologies, and advancements in software systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing, integrating, and testing enterprise systems within the last decade.
  • 5 years of experience in specifying, architecting, and designing enterprise systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience using modeling tools such as Enterprise Architect or similar.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Must be able to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program.

Special Position Requirements

  • This is a hybrid position with standard business hours.
  • Occasional travel may be required for technical support and integration activities.
  • Some travel within Canada may be necessary for planning events.
