Position Overview

Thales Canada, within the Defence & Security sector, is actively involved in supporting the Canadian Army's Land Command, Control, Communications & Computers (C4) Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems, which facilitate crucial decision-making on a daily basis. In collaboration with industry partners, Thales is enhancing existing networks and applications to improve digitized operations, foster communication among joint and allied forces, and safeguard against evolving threats.

We are seeking individuals eager to play a direct role in advancing sophisticated digitized operations for the Canadian Army, both domestically and during international deployments. Opportunities are available across the four LC4ISR programs, which encompass:

  1. Systems engineering and integration;
  2. Core networking;
  3. Application development;
  4. Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR).

Role of the Integration Architect

The Integration Architect will undertake architectural responsibilities such as needs assessment, creation of logical and physical architecture descriptions, development of application data communication frameworks, and options analysis. This role involves defining the integration strategy and maintaining a repository of integration architecture artifacts in accordance with Thales Canada Defence and Security practices. During the implementation phase, the Integration Architect will actively lead a software development team and engage in the software implementation process.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Define solution architectures that align with stakeholder expectations while adhering to standardization and reuse policies, technology roadmaps, and business strategies, considering trade-offs among expectations, technical risks, costs, and timelines;
  2. Create architectural artifacts and review resulting specifications;
  3. Develop and sustain inter-product communication protocols based on business requirements;
  4. Facilitate technical discussions among various contributors;
  5. Produce white papers, analyses, and technical recommendations;
  6. Present architectural proposals to stakeholders and guide technical discussions;
  7. Document and maintain an up-to-date architectural model;
  8. Record minutes for architectural discussions, summarizing key points and actions;
  9. Contribute to the long-term vision and strategy for products/solutions;
  10. Stay current with best practices, methodologies, and advancements in software systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field with relevant experience;
  2. Five years of experience in developing, integrating, and testing enterprise systems within the last decade;
  3. Five years of experience in specifying, architecting, and designing enterprise systems;
  4. At least two years of experience using modeling tools such as Enterprise Architect by Sparx Systems or similar.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements:

  1. Ability to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance;
  2. Ability to meet eligibility requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program.

Special Position Requirements

  1. This is a hybrid position with standard business hours;
  2. Occasional travel to customer sites for technical support may be required;
  3. Occasional travel within Canada for planning events may be necessary.
