We are excited to present an opportunity for a skilled Tax Manager to oversee our tax operations. This pivotal role involves managing all facets of tax compliance and strategic planning, fostering collaboration across departments, and guiding a developing team. Key Responsibilities
  1. Facilitate the preparation of federal, state, local, and specialized tax returns for both Canada and the U.S. by gathering, analyzing, and structuring financial data.
  2. Prepare quarterly tax provision documentation and related journal entries.
  3. Supervise and mentor the Tax Analyst to ensure effective execution of tax obligations.
  4. Oversee the preparation and submission of franchise tax returns, non-income-based filings, and annual reports.
  5. Assist in addressing inquiries from IRS, CRA, and state/local authorities regarding tax matters.
  6. Lead and manage income tax audits, ensuring thorough preparation and strategic responses.
  7. Implement tax planning strategies to enhance the company's tax position and ensure compliance.
  8. Support and refine processes and documentation to mitigate control risks in tax-related areas.
  9. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations by researching applicable laws, enforcing compliance, and advising management on necessary actions; collaborate with legal and tax specialists to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting.
  10. Review and oversee monthly U.S. and Canada sales tax calculations prepared by external firms.
  11. Oversee the compliance of Personal Property Tax Returns prepared by external firms.
  12. Play a significant role in developing the company's income tax function, contributing to the overall tax strategy and operations.
  13. Collaborate closely with finance, accounting, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax implications are integrated into all business decisions.
  14. Provide tax support to various business areas, including payroll and 1099 compliance.
  15. Manage and optimize tax credits and incentives, such as WOTC, R&D credits, and investment credits.
Qualifications
  1. CPA designation is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate taxation.
Required Skills and Abilities
  1. In-depth knowledge of Canadian and U.S. corporate tax laws.

  1. A valid passport is required.
