Our vision is to emerge as one of Canada's foremost and most innovative property and casualty insurers. Achieving this goal relies heavily on our workforce, which is why we foster a culture that is collaborative, ambitious, rewarding, and empowering.

We provide a flexible, hybrid work environment where employees can work both in the office and remotely, depending on the nature of their tasks and collaboration needs. We encourage you to bring your authentic self and join us on our journey. It's better here.

What can you anticipate in this position?

  • Establish effective relationships with internal stakeholders and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of Definity's operations to bolster our initiatives in enhancing the company's visibility and supporting its valuation.
  • Assist in the creation of external communications and disclosure materials related to investors, including presentations and the investor relations website, while identifying best practices to ensure the quality and consistency of investor relations content.
  • Support the research and coordination of information gathering and analysis for ad hoc inquiries and disclosures, including background notes, Q&A speaking notes for investor meetings, conferences, news releases, scripts, and board reports.
  • Continuously track the company's share price, sell-side analysts' forecasts, investor perceptions, and the performance of peer companies and the industry to prepare briefing materials and potential questions for the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Conduct analysis for investor targeting at conferences to provide proactive insights into current and prospective shareholders.
  • Facilitate the development and enhancement of relationships with institutional shareholders, fund managers, sell-side analysts, corporate access, and institutional sales desk contacts.
  • Coordinate investor meetings (both non-deal roadshows and others) and conferences by collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, including on related materials and logistics.
  • Monitor activities within the Canadian property and casualty industry, including the development and maintenance of industry benchmarking databases and presentations.
  • The incumbent may also be called upon to support and/or lead ad hoc projects for the Executive Leadership Team and senior business leaders, such as preparing or assisting in the preparation of Board materials, competitive analysis, peer benchmarking, capital market analysis, investor days, and other strategic initiatives.

What qualifications do you bring to this role?

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, commerce, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field of study, demonstrating high achievement.
  • Further education, ideally an MBA, CFA, CPA, or CPIR, is highly desirable.
  • 0-4 years of professional experience (including co-op or internships) in an accounting or finance-related role, preferably with exposure to investor relations.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting practices and the ability to analyze and interpret the implications of business activities on financial statements.
  • Proven ability to analyze and investigate issues, identify challenges, and propose effective solutions.
  • Interest and/or prior experience in the financial services sector, particularly in insurance, would be advantageous.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel, with exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to produce clear reports and presentations, including a solid working knowledge of PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, and/or S&P CapIQ.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a variable work schedule, especially during quarterly reporting and financial year-end periods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization, including C-level executives.
