We are excited to announce a new opportunity within our Corporate Risk division, where we are seeking a Senior Property Underwriting Specialist to play a pivotal role in expanding our business while aligning with our sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Property Underwriter, you will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating and underwriting account proposals by thoroughly understanding the needs and risk profiles of clients, ensuring a balance between revenue growth and profitability.
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to deliver outstanding service to brokers and clients.
  • Contributing to the assessment of Complex Risk and Property opportunities, guiding strategic decisions.
  • Ensuring the quality and profitability of the underwriting portfolio, referring any risks that exceed your authority to a Specialist.
  • Identifying potential issues related to loss ratios and risk trends, implementing effective remediation strategies.
  • Gaining proficiency in all Information Systems and Programs relevant to Commercial Insurance.
  • Participating in Quality Reviews and audits as necessary.
  • Supporting the maintenance of a compliant underwriting environment in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the insurance sector, specifically as a commercial lines property underwriter.
  • A degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in underwriting Property risks.
  • CIP/FCIP designation is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of property underwriting, pricing strategies, and products across various segments.
  • Familiarity with other functional areas such as Claims, Risk Management, and Accounting.
  • A strong understanding of underwriting principles, policy contracts, rating programs, and relevant statutory constraints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, RTM, and other commercial systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster long-term relationships with brokers and clients.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and pursuing business opportunities.
  • Strong listening skills to effectively address broker and client needs.
