Role Overview:
The Principal Data Scientist will play a crucial role in defining and spearheading technical initiatives aimed at developing models, constructing advanced analytics, and utilizing machine learning techniques. This position is central to our operations and offers a remarkable opportunity to make a substantial impact within a leading fintech organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model Development: Design and implement analyses and models for time series and credit risk data, including:
- Identifying data sources, securing access, and performing data cleansing.
- Creating ETL pipelines for effective feature engineering.
- Utilizing active-learning frameworks to update models in near real-time.
- Analyzing trends, risk factors, and outcomes across various levels of detail.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership to ensure that Data Science aligns with business strategy, including:
- Partnering with engineering and product teams to deliver impactful projects.
- Conducting original analyses to guide and influence strategic roadmaps.
- Communicating technical insights and opinions on the team’s direction.
- Infrastructure Development: Establish systems to support experimentation and model deployment, including:
- Implementing scalable machine learning architectures that adhere to best practices.
- Monitoring model performance and integrating improvements.
- Research and Innovation: Actively explore and enable new machine learning technologies, including:
- Staying informed on the latest advancements in both academia and industry.
- Mentorship: Guide and elevate the skills of fellow data scientists, including:
- Leading the design of end-to-end architecture for team projects and ensuring high-quality code standards.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, or a comparable role.
- Strong skills in data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
- Extensive experience in pattern recognition and predictive modeling.
- Proven technical expertise with a track record of delivering production-level code.
- A collaborative approach with experience in influencing business partners to achieve strategic objectives.
- Ability to articulate technical challenges and address feedback from both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in financial underwriting and credit analysis is advantageous.
