Position Overview:

The Environmental Emissions Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations through effective monitoring and maintenance of emissions detection systems. This role involves conducting regular inspections and utilizing advanced technologies to identify and quantify emissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage actively in promoting a culture of safety.
  • Utilize Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras for emissions detection and employ various methods for quantification.
  • Conduct thorough Job Safety Analyses at job sites.
  • Maintain and utilize all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in navigating to various sites using maps and GPS technology.
  • Perform and document calibration of monitoring instruments as required.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and reporting from handheld devices.
  • Adhere to all site-specific permit and sign-in protocols.
  • Conduct field inspections with precision, safety, and efficiency.
  • Document all leaks found with complete accuracy on leak tags.
  • Report any discrepancies in maintenance and inventory found during fieldwork.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate field inventories and document any Management of Change.
  • Conduct drift assessments when necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the job site.
  • Participate in ongoing training for professional development and safety compliance.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by project managers or clients.

Qualifications:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, Process, Chemical, or Instrumentation) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Experience with LDAR-related tools and equipment is advantageous.

Experience:

  • Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the Oil & Gas sector.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with Workday and LDAR database software is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, is essential.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • A valid Driver's License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Certifications in First Aid, CPR, H2S Alive, TDG, and WHMIS are considered assets.

Safety and Screening:

  • Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings, both initial and random.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders and work at heights is required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel across various regions is necessary.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with personnel at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

The physical demands and work schedule may require flexibility, including potential weekend and holiday shifts, as well as on-call duties. Candidates must be prepared to respond promptly to facility needs.
