About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Floor Care Specialist to join our Special Services Crew at Dexterra Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that floor care programs are delivered as part of our preventative maintenance plan.

Main Responsibilities
  • Class G Driver's License: You will need to hold a valid Class G driver's license and be able to drive a van hauling an equipment trailer, drive in reverse with a trailer, and safely load and secure equipment on the trailer.
  • Floor Refinishing Experience: You will have experience in floor refinishing, including waxing and buffing.
  • Carpet/Upholstery Extraction Cleaning: You will be responsible for carpet and upholstery extraction cleaning.
  • Power Washing: You will perform power washing duties.
  • High Dusting: You will conduct high dusting tasks.
  • Glass Cleaning: You will clean glass surfaces.
  • Detailed Cleaning: You will perform detailed cleaning of spaces such as kitchens, industrial spaces, and new construction projects.
  • Excellent Hard Surface Cleaning Experience: You will have excellent hard surface cleaning experience.
  • Strong Understanding of Floor Care Equipment: You will have a strong understanding of floor care equipment and ensure that it is always in good working condition.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility: You will be eligible for security clearance, which is mandatory for working throughout the airport and various buildings.
  • Respond to Management Team Requests: You will respond to requests from the management team.
  • Be Aware of Exits and Safety Items: You will be aware of exits, safety items, and equipment when in different areas of Pearson Airport.
  • Convey a Professional Presence: You will convey a professional and welcoming presence by interacting with members of the traveling public while multi-tasking.
  • Clear Communication Skills: You will possess clear, concise communication skills in English.
  • Listen Carefully and Have Patience: You will listen carefully and have patience with all passengers or visitors to Pearson.
  • Be Proactive and Assist Passengers: You will be proactive and assist passengers and guests by solving problems or directing them to the airline/stakeholder or information kiosk for assistance.
  • Take Direction and React Quickly: You will take direction and react quickly to changing priorities.
  • Maintain Sharp Observation Skills: You will maintain sharp observation skills along with awareness of surroundings.
  • Report Incidents and Safety Issues: You will report any incident, safety, or maintenance issues, cleaning requirements in an efficient and detailed manner.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Attend Health & Safety Training: You will attend all required health & safety training.
  • Work in a Safe Manner: You will work in a safe manner and follow safe work instructions and assist in prevention.
  • Comply with H&S Regulations: You will comply with H&S regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend Technical Training: You will attend all technical training for the role as required.
  • Engage with Passengers: You will engage and assist passengers in the terminal as necessary.
  • Become an I Am Toronto Pearson Ambassador: You will become an I Am Toronto Pearson Ambassador.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment: You will always use personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to CSA approved steel-toe protective shoes.
  • Report Unsafe Conditions: You will report any unsafe conditions, hazards, and all workplace injuries to supervisor or manager.
  • Participate in Early and Safe Return to Work Process: You will participate in the early and safe return to work process as per our RTW policy.
Qualifications
  • Ability to Obtain and Maintain Validity of a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC): You will be able to obtain and maintain validity of a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
  • Able to Undertake Small Repairs: You will be able to undertake small repairs and have good skills with general tools.
  • Valid Driver's License: You will hold a valid driver's license.
  • Good Command of English and Communication Skills: You will have a good command of English and communication skills.
  • Ability to Read and Follow Layout Instructions: You will be able to read and follow layout instructions.
  • Ability to Walk for Long Periods: You will be able to walk for long periods of time throughout terminal buildings.
  • Ability to Lift and Move Equipment: You will be able to lift and move equipment.
  • Ability to Work Individually or within a Team: You will be able to work individually or within a team.
  • Available to Work All Shifts: You will be available to work all shifts, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
