Telesat is a prominent global satellite operator, recognized for delivering secure and reliable satellite communication solutions for over five decades. With a commitment to engineering excellence and customer service, Telesat is poised to launch its innovative Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network, Telesat Lightspeed, which aims to transform global broadband connectivity.
Role Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to fulfill the role of Supply Chain Contract Manager. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Global Procurement and Supply Chain Management, this position will leverage expertise in the acquisition of complex and commercially sensitive goods and services to support Telesat's strategic objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of corporate policies and procurement processes to minimize risks associated with supply chain management.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning, organizing, and monitoring supply chain activities related to the procurement of specialized goods and services.
- Implement compliant acquisition practices that align with company goals.
- Oversee contractual supply chain management functions for designated vendors.
- Conduct supply chain risk assessments and provide procurement expertise to support engineering and project teams.
- Collaborate with the Legal department to draft and implement various contract templates, including purchase agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
- Manage supplier performance throughout the lifecycle of contracts, including sourcing, proposal evaluation, negotiation, and administration.
- Monitor supplier contracts to ensure compliance and manage scope changes and invoice approvals.
- Utilize sound judgment to adapt procedures for addressing complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Identify risks and communicate them to stakeholders, recommending strategies for mitigation.
- Demonstrate effective financial management through budget oversight and cost reduction initiatives.
- Seek continuous improvements in procurement systems and processes.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across various departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as Commerce, Finance, or Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain or procurement, preferably in a technology-driven environment.
- Professional designation in Procurement (e.g., CSCMP) is a plus.
- Experience in contract development, negotiation, and management.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- In-depth knowledge of purchasing ethics and practices.
- Ability to think critically and resolve complex problems.
- Capacity to manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented, motivated, and results-driven.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
