About the Role:

Island Health is seeking a part-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to provide consultation services and join our team of healthcare professionals in Victoria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide geriatric psychiatry consultation to inpatient and outpatient services, including support for the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Team at Victoria General Hospital.
  • Support outpatient services at the Senior's Outpatient Clinic (SOPC) at Royal Jubilee Hospital, the Esquimalt Westshore Health Unit (EWHU), and consultation at several Long Term Care Facilities.
  • Participate in the Geriatric Psychiatry call rotation and contribute to the development of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with Island Health's geriatric medicine, adult psychiatry, and hospitalist services to provide comprehensive care.
  • Participate in research and education initiatives, including training of medical students and residents.

Requirements:

  • Part-time position (0.7 FTE) with opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in geriatric psychiatry and consultation services, with a strong understanding of interdisciplinary care.
