Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Nunavut Government. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing technical and mechanical system design services throughout the project cycle from conceptual design through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities- Design mechanical systems for engineering projects by clearly defining scopes of work, completing cost estimates, performing engineering calculations, and developing detailed design drawings.
- Prepare assessment and feasibility studies for potential upgrade and rehabilitation projects or construction of new facilities.
- Prepare tender specifications, tender documents, drawings, and cost estimates for mechanical engineering-related projects.
- Perform on-site inspections during the project's construction and commissioning phase and provide technical support and mechanical design review for engineering projects.
- Adhere to all Canadian technical standards, including Canadian Standards Association (CSA), National Building Code (NBC), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
- Five (5) years of mechanical engineering experience in diesel power generation, with experience in full scope project management from inception to commissioning.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with eligibility for registration with NAPEG.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
- Experience with HVAC, heat transfer, Cogeneration, or Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation is an asset.
- Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture.
- The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, and/or French.
