Job Title: Carpenter

LD Hardwood & Stair is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare layouts and designs for building projects, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials to create structures and fixtures.
  • Install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
  • Schedule and coordinate work on sites, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Survey building locations and levels to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Estimate costs and materials for projects, ensuring budgetary compliance.
  • Operate computer-aided design (CADD) software and other computer systems to create designs and plans.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residential and commercial structures, including wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.
  • Ensure proper functioning of equipment and machinery, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience in carpentry or a related field.
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Ability to work at heights, in noisy environments, and with dusty conditions.
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy loads and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and judgment skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and client service skills, with ability to work with minimal supervision.
