Job Summary

The Capital Planning Analyst plays a critical role in the Capital Planning Team, providing analytical support to drive informed decision-making. This position requires a unique blend of technical skills, business acumen, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Capital Planning Program Manager to develop and recommend the capital plan and budget, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Ensure data integrity within information management systems, including proprietary systems, to support reporting, benchmarking, and analytical requirements.
  • Compile and maintain large volumes of capital planning data to support various business needs.
  • Triage and track project requests from clients, facility management, and project management teams.
  • Identify projects from building condition assessment data and recommend accurate scopes of work, justifications, and high-level estimates.
  • Evaluate cost estimates for cyclical maintenance, replacement, and repair of building components and systems.
  • Execute ad-hoc calculations and analysis to support business communication and decision-making.
  • Support the delivery of capital plans to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and contract deliverables.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and implement new processes to enhance asset assessment management.
  • Partner with clients and various departments/teams to refine and implement asset assessment management processes and tools.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Capital Planning Data Coordinator.
  • Train field personnel and system users on business tools, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in capital planning, asset management, data analytics, or related disciplines.
  • University graduation or professional certification (e.g., P. Eng, CMA, CGA, or equivalent courses).
  • Ability to handle large volumes of information and accurately manage large data sets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new software programs.
  • Understanding of technical standards and processes in completing asset assessments and building condition inspections.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Professional Engineering Designation from Professional Engineers of Ontario (an asset).
  • Accreditation to work in specific assessment management software (an asset).
  • LEED Certification from Canada Green Building Council (an asset).
