Position Overview

SANKARS LOGISTICS INC. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Long-Haul Truck Operator to join our team. This is a permanent position that offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, with hours ranging from 60 to 70 hours per week.
  • Education: A minimum of a secondary school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: Candidates should possess 1 to 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications.
Work Environment

The role involves operating in various locations, ensuring that all transportation needs are met efficiently.

Essential Duties
  • Demonstrate expertise in mountain driving.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of goods.
  • Secure necessary permits and documentation for international cargo transport.
  • Inspect vehicle conditions, including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage.
  • Conduct brake adjustments and perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • Execute pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively with central dispatch.
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping.
  • Handle and transport dangerous goods safely.
Required Certifications
  • AZ class license.
  • Class 1/1F/A Licence for semi-trailer trucks.
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
  • Valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A).
Documentation Skills
  • Familiarity with accident or incident reports.
  • Ability to manage bills of lading and dangerous goods occurrence reports.
  • Maintain driver logbooks and inspection reports.
  • Handle maintenance and repair documentation.
  • Complete trans-border and trip reports.
Communication Proficiency

Experience operating GPS and other navigation systems is essential for this role.

Travel Requirements
  • Willingness to travel internationally and across borders.
  • Ability to undertake long-haul and short-haul trips.
  • Flexibility to travel overnight and for extended periods.
Physical Demands
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle heavy loads.
  • Capacity to manage a large workload and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Willingness to engage in repetitive tasks and prolonged sitting.
Weight Handling

Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) as required.
