Social Housing Landscape Maintenance Intern

POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves providing essential support in the upkeep and beautification of community properties managed by Simcoe County Housing Corporation. As a vital member of the Social Housing Department, you will engage in various landscaping and maintenance tasks to ensure a welcoming environment for residents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform landscaping and maintenance duties, including operating equipment such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and other gardening tools.
- Assist in preparing apartments and townhouses for new tenants through cleaning and maintenance.
- Conduct touch-up painting and cleaning of communal areas within residential properties.
- Carry out basic repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Be available to work outside of standard hours when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a registered full-time student, either in secondary or post-secondary education, with plans to return to studies in the upcoming academic year.
- Reliable transportation is necessary for commuting to job sites; possession of a valid Ontario Class 'G or G2' driver's license is preferred.
- Experience with outdoor landscaping tools and basic painting skills is essential.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with tenants and customers in a respectful and understanding manner.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A criminal reference check completed within the last six months is mandatory.
