About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Next Power Inc. as a Power Systems Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical power systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Conduct feasibility studies, design operation and performance research of electrical generation and distribution networks, and prepare material cost and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications.
  • Technical Leadership: Supervise technicians, technologists, programmers, analysts, and other engineers, and commission systems and components.
  • Project Management: Prepare contract documents, evaluate tenders for construction or maintenance, and set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test, and analyze the performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Develop maintenance and operating standards for electrical and electronic systems and equipment, and provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers, members of visible minorities, and other underrepresented groups.
Requirements
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association.
  • Basic security clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with electrical power systems, and knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees, youth employment, Veterans, Indigenous people, and visible minorities.
