The Team
The Consumer Taxation Audit Branch (CTAB) plays a crucial role in ensuring tax compliance throughout British Columbia. The audit team is part of a larger network of teams dedicated to maintaining fairness in the province's consumption tax systems. The Role
As a Tax Auditor within the Consumer Taxation Audit Branch (CTAB), your primary responsibilities will include planning and executing tax audits for businesses operating within British Columbia. You will receive comprehensive training to assist you in determining tax liabilities, proposing audit assessments, and finalizing agreements with taxpayers. Your efforts will contribute to identifying and recovering unpaid provincial revenues, which are essential for funding public services such as education and healthcare.

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CGA, CMA) from a recognized Canadian Accounting Association, along with a minimum of two years of audit or accounting experience.

Note: If your designation was obtained outside of Canada, it must be assessed for equivalency by a recognized Canadian Accounting Association.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level, including skills in working with pivot tables, data sorting, and applying basic formulas.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) is required, with no learner's restrictions.

Willingness Statements:

  • Willingness to travel outside the province for initial training may be necessary.

About this Position:
There are multiple positions available. Successful candidates must be located in the province at the time of employment. Flexible work arrangements are available, allowing for remote work options. A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required as part of the hiring process.
