The Team
The Consumer Taxation Audit Branch (CTAB) plays a vital role in ensuring tax compliance throughout British Columbia. The audit team in Mississauga is one of several teams across the province and Ontario, dedicated to conducting thorough audits under various acts related to consumption tax systems. The Role
As a Tax Compliance Auditor within CTAB, your primary responsibility will be to plan and execute tax audits for businesses operating in British Columbia. Comprehensive training will equip you to determine tax liabilities, propose audit assessments, and finalize agreements with taxpayers. Your efforts will also focus on identifying and recovering unpaid provincial revenues, which are essential for funding public services such as education and healthcare.

Qualifications:
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CGA, CMA) from a recognized Canadian Accounting Association, along with a minimum of two years of audit or accounting experience.
Note: If your designation is from outside Canada, you must confirm its equivalency through a recognized Canadian Accounting Association. Proof of equivalency is required by the application deadline.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including skills in pivot tables, data sorting, and applying basic formulas.
  • A valid Class 5 BC driver's license or equivalent (Ontario Class G) is required, with no learner's restrictions.
Willingness Statements:
  • Willingness to travel outside Ontario for initial training may be necessary.

About this Position:
There are multiple positions available in Mississauga, Ontario. Successful candidates must reside in Ontario at the time of employment. Flexible work options are available, allowing for up to five days of remote work per week, subject to an approved telework agreement. An eligibility list may be created for future permanent vacancies. This position is not part of a union.
