Job Summary

We are looking for a self-motivated and results-driven Senior Placement Broker to lead our commercial lines placement efforts. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the insurance marketplace and be able to build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers. This is a key role that will play a critical part in driving business growth and delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and develop marketing and broking initiatives for our clients
  • Negotiate terms for new business, renewals, and mid-term changes with insurance carriers
  • Gather and organize information from various sources to facilitate renewal and new business submissions
  • Review expiry lists and determine which accounts to send to market, which markets to approach, and what information is required by insurers
  • Track and maintain a log of insurer submission responses
  • Prepare insurance summaries, underwriting proposals, and cover notes for the production team
  • Analyze and review policy wordings to ensure proper coverages are in place
  • Monitor the insurance marketplace and maintain a current database of changing company appetites
  • Act as the senior client contact when the producer is unavailable
  • Review and compare quotations received to ensure accuracy and outline any coverage restrictions
  • Provide alternate carrier options as needed
  • Ensure there are no gaps in coverage for our clients
  • Prepare a summary of losses paid by insurers vs. premiums paid by the insured to assist in negotiating terms
  • Bind coverage, prepare documentation, certificates of insurance, mid-term changes, etc. in a timely fashion
  • Mentor junior staff
Requirements
  • Level 2 General Insurance License
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of commercial lines insurance experience
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial placement broking/marketing experience
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience working with and interpreting insurance policies
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Working knowledge of EPIC and PolicyWorks
  • CAIB, CIP, FCIP, or CRM designations preferred
