Role Overview:
We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician to take on the vital responsibility of the specimen collection process, which includes welcoming patients and preparing specimens for transport. This role is crucial in enhancing patient care and will allow you to witness the positive impact you have on patients' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients, gather necessary information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure compliance with testing protocols.
- Conduct phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, perform 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, and execute ECG tracings.
- Carry out specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing relevant documentation.
- Maintain client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Enter required patient demographics and requisition information accurately.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
The ideal candidate will prioritize exceptional customer service and effectively connect with patients, even in challenging situations. Essential qualities include empathy, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience in a healthcare role with prior training in phlebotomy.
- ECG training or experience is advantageous.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in relating effectively to patients and healthcare providers.
