Oakville, Ontario, Canada BDO Full time

Prioritizing People Every Day

BDO is an organization founded on strong relationships with our team members and clients. Our professionals deliver outstanding service daily, providing clients with reliable advice and insights. In return, we create an award-winning workplace that emphasizes your personal and professional development.

Your Role

Our technology division, BDO Digital, boasts over 20 years of expertise in delivering comprehensive technology and modern workplace solutions across data & AI, cloud & cybersecurity, and business & customer applications. We are expanding our data-driven services nationwide and beyond, assisting our clients in adapting, adopting, and thriving.

BDO Digital's Modern Workplace division is seeking a Technical Architect/Team Lead with a specialization in Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and MS Teams. Your responsibilities will include:

Talent Development:

Shape the team's direction in alignment with core values, mission, and vision; participate in the recruitment of new talent that fits this vision. Mentor and manage team members to ensure they possess the necessary skills and experience for delivering exceptional service to clients. Stay updated with the latest advancements in Microsoft technologies, integrating new tools and methodologies into the development process as suitable. Share insights and best practices within the team.

Professional Growth:

Collaborate with the Proposals team to assess RFIs/RFPs and craft responses that include technical solutions and estimations. Work alongside practice leadership to engage in pre-sales activities, including preparation of SOWs, POCs, estimates, and proposals, as well as authoring whitepapers and articles to enhance our brand presence.

Client Engagement:

Collaborate with senior architects to design, review, and develop robust, efficient, and maintainable solutions, ensuring compliance with practice standards and best practices. Provide architectural and design guidance while managing project teams across various client engagements involving diverse Microsoft technologies (e.g., M365, Microsoft Viva, SharePoint, MS Teams), ensuring all milestones and deliverables are achieved on schedule and within budget. Be accountable for the comprehensive delivery of solutions, ensuring they meet or surpass business requirements, technical specifications, and quality benchmarks. Develop and maintain documentation for solution designs, development and deployment processes, and best practices. Collaborate with project managers to provide regular updates on project execution, highlighting risks as they arise, and facilitate communication between client teams and BDO. Work with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, security, and operations, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of solutions. Engage with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into technical specifications. Directly interact with clients to drive the implementation and operational success of data solutions, ensuring a positive end-user experience. Act as a point of escalation for customer concerns, providing management and guidance for resolution of satisfaction issues. Foster deeper relationships with clients and assist in expanding engagement opportunities as they arise.

Defining Success in Your Role:

Demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration. Understand your client's industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients recognize you as positive, professional, and consistently delivering high-quality work. Identify, recommend, and focus on effective service delivery to your clients. Contribute to an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains, and attracts talent. Actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to foster an innovative workplace. Enhance your expertise through continuous learning and professional development.

Required Experience and Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. At least 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and MS Teams. In-depth knowledge of SharePoint Online, SharePoint administration, Graph API, Azure Service Principals, SPFx, and PNP. Comprehensive understanding of MS Teams, including administration and policies. Experience in executing migration activities to SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and MS Teams, including but not limited to on-premises SharePoint servers and tenant-to-tenant migrations. Solid understanding and hands-on experience with integration solutions involving external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, Excel imports/exports, and service bus. Familiarity with Microsoft Purview features (e.g., Retention, Sensitivity, DLP, etc.). Knowledge of Azure services, including but not limited to Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL. Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, TypeScript, ReactJS, and PowerShell. Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent multitasking and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects with defined deadlines. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Ability to adapt swiftly to changing client requirements. Strong customer-facing, communication, and presentation skills, able to engage with various levels of the organization.
