Psychiatric Emergency Care Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric emergency care and a passion for delivering high-quality patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental status, as well as risk assessments.
- Apply addictions theory and management of withdrawal to provide effective care.
- Utilize crisis intervention and stabilization principles to ensure patient safety.
- Screen patients for mental illness and addictions using common screening tools.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Organize workload and prioritize tasks to ensure efficient care delivery.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide comprehensive care.
- Operate related equipment, including computers and software.
A minimum of two years' experience working with patients with acute mental illness and/or addiction is required. Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or RPN registrant is also required.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload.
