Mainframe Developer/COBOL Developer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer/COBOL Developer to join our team at Lorven Technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing and maintaining large-scale mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, JCL, IMSDB, and CICS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop batch jobs using JCL and ensure efficient execution.
  • Document data transformation rules for continuous data replication between IMS DB and SQL Server DB using Precisely's SQData CDC.
  • Design and implement data resiliency processes to compare source and target data stores and report discrepancies for correction by the operations team using IBM Infosphere DataStage.
  • Develop COBOL to JAVA APIs and provide timely and quality support to BU and IT stakeholders.
  • Perform BAU changes to support operational requirements, including ad-hoc or periodic updates to application data and business logic.
  • Provide development and testing support to other interfacing systems.
  • Perform integration testing and PIV.
  • Develop, unit-test, and deploy new MF DevOps pipelines under RBC's Engineering Transformation Program.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of development and/or hands-on application maintenance experience on large mainframe applications.
  • Proficiency in Mainframe tools and utilities, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMSDB, CICS, Focus, File-Aid, Xpeditor, and ISPF.
  • Experience with Source Code Management using Endevor and GitHub.
  • DevOps skills, including UCD, Jenkins, Sonarcube, and ZUNIT.
