Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and high-quality food production.
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of all menu items, including sauces, vegetables, and farinaceous products.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment and utensils.
  • Ensure that all food safety and sanitation procedures are followed at all times.
  • Assist with ordering, inventory, and cost control to minimize waste and optimize food costs.
  • Train and develop junior cooks to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their duties effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other kitchen staff to plan and execute menus, specials, and banquets.
  • Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service and that their dining experience is memorable and enjoyable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or other management staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of kitchen/catering experience, preferably in a hotel environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of culinary experience, including at least 3 years of short-order experience or completion of a post-secondary culinary program.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a calm and composed demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Current Food Safe Certification.

Working Conditions

  • Hotel and hospitality kitchen environment.
  • Work varying shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 40 lbs frequently.
  • Must be able to move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 lbs without assistance, and in excess of 30 lbs with assistance.

Salary Range

$20.17/hour
