Athabasca University (AU) is seeking a highly skilled Digital Security Architect to join our team. As a key member of our Digital Security Office, you will play a crucial role in defining and assessing the university's cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Alignment (15%)
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture practice to implement and integrate a security architecture process aligned with the university's strategic direction.
- Adapt security strategies based on changes in digital technologies and cyber threat environments.
- Ensure that security solutions and capabilities align with AU's strategic plans and IT initiatives.
- Evaluate, design, and engineer cybersecurity solutions within project and system lifecycles.
- Maintain security architecture artifacts (models, templates, procedures, standards).
- Develop security guidelines and blueprints for technology and tools used in the university.
- Perform threat modeling and security risk assessments for university systems, applications, and initiatives.
- Assist application solution architects to design secure application solutions that leverage cloud services.
- Conduct and coordinate security testing, risk analyses, and assessments for the university network and applications.
- Validate security configurations and access to security infrastructure tools, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), web application firewalls (WAFs), anti-malware/endpoint protection systems, etc.
- Plan, research, and develop robust security architectures for systems and networks.
- Research current and emerging technologies to understand capabilities of required networks or systems.
- Lead cybersecurity incident response and coordination, advising on recovery operations.
- Lead the ongoing detection and response effort as it relates to security events and alerts with the Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP).
- Track developments in digital business and threat environments.
- Liaise with the business continuity management team to validate security practices for both Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) and Business Continuity Management (BCM), ensuring testing and operations occur as designed when failovers occur.
- Liaise with architects and security practitioners to share best practices.
- Collaborate with other members of the CISO's team and IT for delivery on other security program items such as vulnerability management.
- Work with the CISO to conduct briefings and deliver presentations to IT leadership.
