Job Summary:
Are you a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for maintaining a clean and safe environment? Do you have experience with custodial work and a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service?

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a Custodian II to join our team. As a Custodian II, you will be responsible for performing moderately complex custodial work, including cleaning, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing to maintain a safe and healthy environment. You will also operate floor maintenance equipment, request and restock supplies, and assist with conducting inspections of buildings and equipment for cleanliness and needed repairs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleans and maintains floors, restrooms, nurses' station, and other areas in accordance with established procedures and safety measures.
  • Maintains and cleans the interior and exterior of assigned buildings, empties trash, reports needed repairs, and replenishes supplies as needed.
  • Coaches other custodians as needed and inspects assigned buildings and areas for cleanliness, completed work, and needed minor repairs.
  • Completes documentation in an accurate and timely manner and protects confidential information.
  • Maintains inventory and equipment records and helps patients maintain optimal health and provides a safe environment for self, persons served, and others.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, standards, and sanitation regulations.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
  • Skills in the use of custodial equipment, materials, and the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Ability to stay on task and complete work timely.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and patients.

Working Conditions:
This position may require working irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity while providing excellent customer service.
