Position Summary

Role Overview
The City of Nanaimo is currently looking for a dedicated Financial Analyst to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. This role reports directly to the Manager of Financial Planning and involves overseeing the budgeting systems and documentation for the city. The Financial Analyst will collaborate with various city departments, gathering essential information and facilitating problem-solving initiatives to enhance the financial planning process.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be tasked with:

  • Administering and coordinating the city's budgetary systems.
  • Identifying potential sources of grant funding and assisting departments in applying for and managing these grants.
  • Ensuring compliance with grantors' requirements during the application and funding claim processes.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess a minimum of four years of experience in complex accounting practices within a computerized environment. A recognized British Columbia Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is mandatory.

Additional Information
This position is part of a unionized workforce, offering a competitive hourly wage based on a standard 35-hour work week. Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo a criminal record check and verification of their educational qualifications.
