Key Responsibilities
  • Load and Unload Goods: Safely load and unload goods from trucks, ensuring that all cargo is secure and properly stowed.
  • Operate and Drive Trucks: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain the condition of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment.
  • Emergency Roadside Repairs: Perform emergency roadside repairs to ensure that the vehicle is safe to operate.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
  • Communication: Receive and relay information to central dispatch, ensuring that all parties are informed of any issues or delays.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Cargo Security: Ensure the safety and security of cargo at all times, including tarping and securing loads.
Requirements
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement: Possess a valid Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A): Hold a valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A).
  • Driver Logbook: Maintain a clean and accurate driver logbook.
  • Driving Record Check (Abstract): Have a clean driving record, with no major infractions.
  • Experience: Willingness to train and learn, with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
