Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to lead design projects, manage design project deliverables, and participate in project estimating and design job financials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building design, electrical plans, and specifications, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the Ontario building industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design projects with clients and internal design teams
  • Manage design project deliverables and design costs
  • Participate in project estimating, quoting, and design job financials
  • Investigate project design requirements, code/design aspects, and apply requirements to a design
  • Complete independently building power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, lightning, security, data, and hazardous area classification
  • Prepare plans and specifications for projects, typically for permit applications and/or construction
  • Provide field reporting and general reviews for ongoing construction works
  • Communicate with clients from initial project investigation to project completion
  • Coordinate with municipalities regarding regulatory and permit works
  • Communicate and work with the Principal (P.Eng), Designers/EITs, Engineers, and all stakeholders involved in projects
Requirements
  • Experience in applying codes/regulations applicable to projects, specifically OBC, OFC, ASHRAE 90.1, NFPA, ULC S524, S537, and standards
  • Experience in building power calculations, power systems lighting power, and illumination modeling
  • Provide service fire stopping details and reviews for electrical service penetrations of fire separations
  • Author and seal specifications, calculations, drawings, field reports, letters, and project reporting
  • Engage in numerous projects within a work week and manage multiple priorities
  • Be a self-learner
  • Be able to complete assigned tasks within stipulated assigned timeframes and per client schedules
  • English communication at the Canadian University level, both verbal and written, is a must
  • Functional in all MS Office suite software
  • Well-versed in overall building design works and proficient in AutoCAD 2D
  • Proficient in lighting modeling software
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 8 years of full-time experience in the Ontario building industry post-graduation, in building design, having sealed in calculations, electrical plans, and specifications previously in Ontario
  • Must be licensed as a P.Eng. in Ontario
  • Must have ongoing education credits/courses in the building industry, specifically CSA, OESC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and OBC training
  • Project management training completed previously is an asset
