Job Title: Inclusion Support and Learning Assistance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Inclusion Support and Learning Assistance Specialist to join our team at School District #62 (Sooke).

Job Summary:

The Inclusion Support and Learning Assistance Specialist will provide support to students with diverse learning needs, promoting inclusive and equitable learning environments. This role will work closely with teachers, students, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans, ensuring students have access to the resources and accommodations they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans for students with diverse learning needs
  • Provide academic and social support to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms and small group instruction
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement inclusive and equitable learning environments
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure seamless support and accommodations
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in inclusion and learning assistance, making recommendations for professional development and resource allocation
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as special education or a related field
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on student needs and outcomes
