Reporting directly to the Chief Social Worker, the Social Worker plays a vital role within the Interdisciplinary team, addressing the psychosocial aspects of health conditions for clients and their families as part of their healthcare planning.
They facilitate effective coping strategies and adaptations to the challenges posed by illness or hospitalization, aiming to enhance the clients' overall functioning and well-being.
The Social Worker is responsible for assessing and planning for a safe transition back to the community, whether in the patient's home or other care settings.
Duties are carried out in accordance with the established standards and protocols of the Social Work Department and the policies of the Northern Health Authority.
Work Schedule: Days and Evenings, with shifts from 07:00 to 15:00 and 14:45 to 22:45 (Rotating)

Required Qualifications:
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Registration with the BC College of Social Workers.
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Social Worker in a healthcare setting, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in conducting social and psychosocial assessments.
- Capable of providing therapeutic crisis intervention when necessary.
- Strong collaborative skills as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Effective conflict resolution abilities.
- Proven ability to establish rapport and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of emotional and mental health issues related to illness and hospitalization.
- Understanding of cultural needs and considerations for patients from rural and remote communities.
- Familiarity with healthcare legislation and policies relevant to client care.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
