Job Summary

Maintain the technical aspects of events and performances at Mount Allison University. This role involves coordinating with performers, managing technical support, and ensuring the smooth execution of events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Coordination: Organize and manage the technical requirements for events in Convocation Hall and other venues on campus.
  • Technical Support: Provide support for events, including lighting design and operation, sound design, reinforcement and engineering, stage management, rigging, stage carpentry, video and sound recording, electrical, props, and costuming.
  • Team Management: Hire, train, and supervise student technicians for events at Convocation Hall and other venues.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Implement, train, and enforce safety regulations and procedures concerning the use of lighting, sound, stage, and audiovisual equipment on campus.
  • Equipment Management: Identify, research, and recommend changes to Convocation Hall equipment to cover needs within budget.
  • AV Support: Provide audiovisual support for academic requirements and troubleshoot issues in classrooms and meeting rooms.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Two years of post-secondary education and one to three years of related experience/training.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, and demonstrated competency in stage carpentry, costuming, props, rigging, video, electronics, and other stage equipment.
  • Physical Demands: Heavy lifting, working at heights of up to 50 feet, and the ability to maneuver on catwalks and grid systems.
