About the Role

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, iGaming Operations Compliance to join our team. As a key member of our Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction team, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and ongoing administration of the Government of Alberta's Standards for Online Gambling.

You will work closely with cross-ministry partners and internal subject matter experts to establish and operationalize an online gambling compliance program, including the development of policies, training requirements, and risk assessment and reporting systems.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of Alberta's Standards for Online Gambling
  • Ensure effective systems are in place to monitor operator compliance
  • Monitor the ongoing effectiveness of the compliance program
  • Advise executive management on federal and provincial obligations
  • Build a high-performing team by establishing unit objectives
  • Support operators in their regulatory and operational compliance
Requirements

A post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g., law, business, or public administration) and a minimum of 7 years of management experience in a regulatory/operational compliance environment are required. Experience with regulatory compliance and risk mitigation controls, assessing risk and achieving outcomes-based regulatory goals, building a high-performing team, using data for strategic planning and decision-making, and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously are considered assets.

The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the broader online gambling regulatory space, a clear awareness of Alberta's existing gambling regulatory environment, and familiarity with current events affecting the online gaming space.
