Job Summary

The Business Analyst I is a key member of the Arts Instructional Support and Information Technology (ISIT) team, responsible for supporting the successful delivery of projects and services for the administrative, teaching, and research needs of the Faculty of Arts. This role involves working closely with faculty, staff, and students to align business initiatives with technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Consult with stakeholders to carry out business process assessments, utilizing a structured requirements process to identify business priorities.

Document business requirements and define business rules.

Prepare functional, system, and program specifications.

Plan and lead workshops, interviews, and surveys to gather requirements.

Consolidate and review information gathered through various requirements gathering processes, summarizing findings and presenting to stakeholders and senior management.

Analyze the impacts of proposed changes to services and/or processes for Arts ISIT and client stakeholders.

Provide input to project documentation and status reports by documenting requirements and business priorities, providing estimates on required resourcing and capabilities, and defining processes.

Acquire working knowledge of the university's technical and business environment.

Build and maintain good working relationships with functional teams, management, and client stakeholders.

Participate in the assessment of new processes and/or technologies to support business goals.

Maintain appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.

Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.

Demonstrated commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
