As part of the Credit Portfolio Management Group (CPM), the Credit Analyst will operate under the guidance of a Director - Senior Credit Analyst. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio that includes significant US corporations and subsidiaries of international firms across various sectors. The Credit Analyst will be tasked with conducting in-depth credit evaluations, analyzing legal documentation, and continuously monitoring the portfolio under the oversight of the Senior Credit Analyst.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing high-quality credit proposals and annual assessments of corporate clients to evaluate their creditworthiness, recommending suitable credit limits, terms, and conditions. This process includes analyzing financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), assessing the client's strategic direction, business risks, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
- Creating financial forecasts and evaluating debt repayment capabilities while ensuring adherence to SGS Credit Policies.
- Recommending and updating Obligor Risk Ratings.
- Monitoring compliance with financial covenants.
- Reviewing pertinent legal documents (e.g., credit agreements, guarantees, ISDA, CSA) and suggesting modifications to align with SGS policies.
- Collaborating with other CPM teams across the US, Europe, and Asia, as well as engaging with business lines, bankers, legal and compliance departments, operations, and risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Exceptional financial analytical capabilities.
- Expertise in evaluating credit terms and conditions, including financial covenants, security, and collateral.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and investment banking products.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including interaction with teams located in various regions (US, India, Europe).
- Excellent writing skills, particularly in summarizing and assessing financial transactions (credit requests, covenant waivers, etc.).
- Thorough understanding of accounting, legal, and regulatory frameworks relevant to the sectors involved.
- Proficient in researching, synthesizing data, and drawing appropriate conclusions based on observed results.
- Capable of analyzing and assessing counterparty risk and financial health using both quantitative and qualitative data.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:
- Strong grasp of finance and accounting principles.
- Experience in preparing financial projections under various scenarios.
- Proficient in using Word for written analyses and Excel for data analysis.
- Knowledge of capital markets, traded products, and committed financing facilities.
EXPERIENCE:
- 8-10 years of experience as a credit analyst within a corporate and investment banking environment or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for effective collaboration with colleagues and partners.
