Position Overview

In alignment with the Vision, Purpose, and Values of Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority, ensuring patient safety is a collective responsibility that is integral to this role. Continuous enhancement of quality and safety is a fundamental expectation in all duties associated with this position.

Under the supervision of the Manager, the Rehabilitation Support Specialist collaborates within an interprofessional team to assist clients in achieving their rehabilitation objectives and enhancing their capacity for independence. This role involves delivering both direct and indirect client care, guided by the clinical direction of Rehabilitation Therapists, including Occupational, Physical, Speech, and Recreation Therapists. The Rehabilitation Support Specialist adheres to the care plan established by the Rehabilitation Therapist(s) and engages in discussions regarding any necessary adjustments or advancements to the plan prior to execution.

Travel may be a component of this role, and transportation arrangements must align with the operational requirements of Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority, which may necessitate the use of a personal vehicle.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

Completion of a two-year Rehabilitation Assistant Program, along with two (2) years of recent, relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid BC Driver's license is required.
