Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Director of Care to lead our nursing department and oversee the delivery of high-quality resident care. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for implementing and evaluating nursing department initiatives, coordinating best practice and risk management initiatives, and maintaining a system of care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement nursing department initiatives and strategies to improve resident care and outcomes
- Lead the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care
- Manage the utilization of nursing supplies and resources
- Maintain a system of care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at the resident and unit program level
- Mentor and support staff to ensure high-quality resident care
- Investigate and address occupational health and safety concerns, including WSIB claims and return-to-work plans
- Participate in special projects, reviews, and other initiatives to improve resident care and services
Qualifications:
- Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Proven experience in long-term care, with a passion for delivering high-quality resident care
- Experience with WSIB management and occupational health and safety
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
