Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Support III to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As an Administrative Support III, you will play a critical role in supporting the registration and coordination of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register clients utilizing the regional registration system, collecting and verifying patient demographic information and validating healthcare insurance.
  • Create Unique Lifetime Identifiers (ULIs) for non-residents of Alberta, new Alberta residents, and newborns in the Alberta Person Directory.
  • Collect and receipt payment as applicable, and respond to telephone queries in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Apply identification wristbands for all registered clients and coordinate inpatient bed assignments with the Bed Utilization Coordinator/Charge Nurses.
  • Greet clients, visitors, and staff, directing them to the appropriate areas throughout the Health Center in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain a positive public image and complete deposits as per Finance guidelines, ensuring the float is managed effectively.
  • Retrieve patient charts from Health Information - Records Management (HIRM) outside of regular hours and log removal to the appropriate nursing unit/physician.
  • Review scanned Point of Touch documents and ensure the work area is stocked with necessary supplies, stored appropriately.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology course (testing will be performed).
  • 2 years of reception experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work cooperatively and professionally with clients, nursing staff, and physicians.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability, demonstrated through employment references.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively, with superior customer service skills.
  • Proven accuracy in spelling, keyboarding, and attention to detail, with a minimum typing speed of 45 wpm (testing will be performed).
  • Proven initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Connect Care/Alberta Health Services Programs is an asset.
