About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Arcadis. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for building projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems, including HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to support the implementation of process engineering systems.
- Participate in site assessments and reviews to verify the performance and functionality of mechanical systems.
- Provide technical support to project teams, contractors, and clients, and actively participate in project planning and coordination efforts.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, reports, and staying updated with advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and best practices.
- Coordinate with architectural teams and other engineering disciplines, and actively participate in project planning and budgeting.
- Design and engineer building-related systems, including HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, controls, and building automation systems.
- Support the design of industrial systems, such as compressed air, lubrication, and fueling systems, as well as service connections for machine installations.
- Analyze heating and cooling loads using computerized methods.
- Develop and write engineering study reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards during design development, and coordinate with the energy analysis team for compliance with energy standards.
- Take responsibility for the production of construction documents and construction administration for projects, and review and approve technical documentation.
- Conduct quality assurance checks, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Requirements
- Possess 7-10 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial and transit facilities, with a strong background in automotive facilities being an asset.
- Hold a professional engineering license (P.Eng.) and have a comprehensive understanding of AutoCAD MEP, MicroStation, Revit, 3D software, and related tools.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills for effective internal and client interactions.
- Exhibit the ability to work on multiple project assignments.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
- Show proven experience in collaborating with clients, contractors, and other consultants.
- Possess an excellent understanding of the Quebec Building Code, Quebec Fire Code, Plumbing Code, NFPA, ASHRAE standards.
- Familiar with TSSA Fuel & Pressure vessel codes, and industrial ventilation standards, among other relevant industrial standards is an asset.
