Position Overview:

The MLTC Technical Services Department is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled individual to assume the role of Electrical & Instrumentation Journeyperson. This full-time, permanent position involves diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues across all facilities associated with MLTC. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting Operators with the upkeep and repair of the plant's electrical and control systems, as well as filtration processes, and will make necessary adjustments to equipment as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed reports, conduct annual assessments, and generate condition reports.
  • Support and mentor Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Operators in the maintenance, repair, replacement, and calibration of electrical and electronic equipment in both sewage pump stations and water treatment facilities.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to establish wiring configurations.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Team, Chief & Council, and Indigenous Services Canada Officers to ensure timely project completion.
  • Analyze and assess instrumentation and system failures in Water Treatment Plants and Sewage Pump Stations using precision measuring instruments and electrical testing devices.
  • Oversee the installation of process control instrumentation.
  • Participate in Project Management Meetings related to infrastructure projects and WTP and SPS systems.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Engineer.
  • Class 1 WTP Operator certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining controllers such as RTU, PLC, VFD, and other SCADA equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code CSA Z462, Workplace Electrical Safety CSA Z463, and Maintenance of Electrical Systems.
  • Relevant experience in troubleshooting and testing electronic equipment in Water Treatment Plants.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Ability to communicate in Cree/Dene is considered an asset.
