Job Overview

The Program Management Leader is tasked with overseeing a dedicated team of Program Officers and Assistants, ensuring the successful and efficient execution of the Agency's initiatives. This role involves providing strategic direction in policy, procedures, and occasionally budgetary matters to the team and associated committees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent and advocate for the Agency in various interactions, including collaborations with national and international partners, academic researchers, and stakeholders from diverse sectors.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of data, reports, and complex cases to inform decision-making.
  • Make informed funding and budgetary recommendations within designated authority.
  • Lead and participate in working groups and projects, contributing to corporate initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice to senior management on intricate program policies and the development of innovative initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

A bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution is essential. A degree in natural sciences or engineering is considered advantageous.

Experience

Proven experience in a research and development environment, whether in academia, industry, or government, along with:

  • Human resource management.
  • Handling multiple projects and priorities.
  • Policy development and analysis.

Desirable assets include:

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and joint program development.
  • Background in industrial or governmental research and development.
  • Application of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • Financial resource management.
  • Data stewardship and governance initiatives.

Knowledge

Understanding of the Agency's mandate, structure, and relevant policies, as well as:

  • Research application issues in various sectors.
  • Trends in science and engineering research and post-secondary education in Canada.
  • Funding structures for research and scholarships in Canada.

Preferred knowledge includes:

  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion considerations in research.
  • Financial management and procurement policies.
  • Project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Information management systems and office automation tools.
