Harm Reduction Specialist

Ottawa Inner City Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Harm Reduction Worker to join our team. As a Harm Reduction Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are struggling with addiction and mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities:- Engage clients in a trusting relationship and provide support while they access services.
- Build rapport and advocate for clients while enforcing rules for the safe operation of The Trailer.
- Work effectively in an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive support to clients.
- Provide education and support on harm reduction strategies and substance use issues.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Personal experience with addiction, mental health, and/or homelessness.
- Knowledge and comfort working with diverse populations, including Aboriginal communities, the homeless, and underhoused individuals.
- Knowledge about stimulants, opiates, and injection drug use issues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English required; fluency in French, Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe, Cree, and/or Inuktitut an asset.
- Current Standard First Aid certificate and up-to-date vaccinations.
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check required.
