As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and social needs are met.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized care to residents, promoting their dignity and respect.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Observe and report any changes in residents' behavior, emotional, social, or physical patterns.
  • Interact with residents who may have language barriers, sensory deficits, or communication aids.
  • Provide oral and dental care, maintain oral tissue integrity, and observe for problems.
  • Maintain skin, nail, and foot care to promote and maintain skin integrity for comfort and mobility.
  • Implement measures to keep residents clean, comfortable, and free from odor.
  • Assist with adaptive aids, prosthetic, and mobility aids.
  • Provide assistance with feeding, including texture-modified food if required.
  • Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support and assistance with all activities of daily living.
  • Implement universal precautions and isolation techniques according to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement emergency measures.
  • Collect and monitor resident information.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Diploma and a Personal Support Worker Certificate from an Ontario postsecondary institution or district school board.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
  • 1 year of experience in a long-term care facility.
  • Medical certificate of good physical and mental health.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with elderly, with patience, compassion, kindness, and creativity.
  • Ability to work rotating day/evening/night shifts and alternate weekends.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English; bilingual in Chinese is preferred.
