We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Indigenous Student Advocate to join our team at Central Okanagan Public Schools (School District No. 23). As an Indigenous Student Advocate, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational journey of Indigenous students and promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect within our school community.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to improve Indigenous student outcomes and achievement
- Provide guidance and support to Indigenous students, parents, and staff on Indigenous education and cultural practices
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community partners to develop and implement culturally responsive teaching practices
- Conduct research and analysis to identify areas of improvement and develop recommendations for policy and program development
- Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations to promote partnerships and collaborations
- Master's degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in Indigenous education or a related field
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
