Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy services to residents and clients in residential and community-based settings
  • Educate and advocate for residents and clients to ensure their needs are met
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans
  • Conduct assessments and develop care plans to promote functional independence and occupational performance
  • Prescribe and recommend adaptive aids and equipment to residents and clients
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation and social programs to meet resident needs
  • Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities
  • Maintain accurate records and reports statistics as required
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved school of Occupational Therapy
  • Two years' recent, related clinical experience in a residential, community or home health setting
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC and eligible for membership in the BC Society of Occupational Therapists
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business-related purposes
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current developments in occupational therapy
  • Demonstrated understanding of the scope of practice of other healthcare disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Ability to problem solve and exercise judgment in professional practice
  • Demonstrated leadership and teaching skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
