Role Overview:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the lairage, abattoir, and processing teams by ensuring that all necessary customer, regulatory, and industry checks are conducted in a timely manner. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of our H.A.C.C.P food safety management system through effective monitoring and verification activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of livestock and products to confirm compliance with established customer and regulatory standards.
  • Perform daily checks, including but not limited to:
  • Monitoring for contamination trends.
  • Verifying customer specifications using tools such as IAuditor.
  • Ensuring all products meet the required criteria before leaving the facility, including checks on contamination, SRM, temperature, weight, and packaging standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of numeracy and literacy to accurately interpret and document results from inspections.
  • Execute checks at various intervals throughout the production shift, including batch-specific, daily, and weekly assessments.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity in all checks, adhering strictly to relevant protocols and specifications.
  • Verify the quality of all labels, ensuring all information is accurate and relevant.
  • Exhibit a keen attention to detail and the ability to cross-reference labels against specifications.
  • Conduct checks at the start of each production batch, with additional checks as required.
  • Ensure the accuracy of information on product labels.
  • Complete monitoring and verification practices in accordance with the H.A.C.C.P plan.
  • Accurately complete documentation, demonstrating a good command of written English.
  • Uphold a high level of integrity while performing checks and activities in line with the stringent requirements of the H.A.C.C.P food safety system.
  • Collect samples and conduct testing of carcasses and primals according to the sampling schedule.
  • Perform carcass pH testing as per customer-specific protocols.
  • Take samples from primals and carcasses to comply with stipulated schedules.
  • Oversee DNA testing for external laboratory analysis, ensuring accuracy in all checks.
  • Conduct calibration checks on equipment, including scales and machinery, before, during, and after production operations.
  • Document all checks using various methods, including Trace Soft systems and other documentation.
  • Conduct internal audits within the facility at required frequencies.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, with shifts starting at 6:30 AM until production concludes.

Compensation:

£11.92 per hour

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Competency in using handheld interfaces and touch screen systems is advantageous.
