Overview of the Network Technician Role

We are seeking a skilled Network Technician to manage and enhance our network systems. This position requires a strong foundation in network administration and troubleshooting.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years in a similar role.
Work Environment
  • Help desk support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, troubleshoot, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and computer workstations.
  • Assess and install necessary computer hardware, networking software, and operating systems.
  • Provide technical support and problem-solving assistance to network users.
  • Implement security protocols for data, software, and hardware.
  • Conduct routine network operations and maintain accurate control records.
  • Perform data backups and manage disaster recovery processes.
  • Establish local area networks and ensure Internet connectivity.
  • Utilize network monitoring software to enhance traffic management and server performance.
  • Research and apply meta-data for websites and ensure proper registration with search engines.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversee a small team of 1 to 2 individuals.
Travel and Transportation
  • Access to public transportation is available.
Work Conditions
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Primarily sedentary work.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to relocate if necessary.
