The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for assessing the needs of patients in the perioperative phase, ensuring that nursing accountability is demonstrated through various activities. This role involves the safe and effective use of medical equipment and supplies, as well as evaluating patient outcomes to ensure optimal care.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required
- Registration or eligibility to practice in Ontario
- Completion of the Operating Room certification and/or a minimum of two years of experience in the Operating Room within the last three years
- Proficiency in scrubbing and circulating across all surgical services
- Familiarity with current ORNAC standards
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
- Team-oriented mindset
- Flexibility to accommodate the unit's scheduling needs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in electronic communication
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational capabilities
- Capacity to respond effectively to urgent and emergency situations
- Willingness to be on-call and available to reach the facility promptly
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education
- A recent record of satisfactory performance and attendance
- Adherence to Brightshores' 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others), alongside a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace free from violence and harassment

Preferred
- Certification in Perioperative Nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
