The Office of the Auditor General serves the Nova Scotia House of Assembly and the people of Nova Scotia.
Our vision is to be a relevant, valued and independent audit office serving the public interest as the House of Assembly's primary source of assurance on government performance.
The Office accomplishes this through the conduct of financial and performance audits of government departments and agencies, as well as entities which receive funding from the government.
We are seeking a qualified professional to join our Performance Audit Team as a Senior Audit Officer. This role involves direct reporting to an Audit Principal within the Performance Audit Team.
As a Senior Audit Officer, your responsibilities will include the planning, execution, and reporting of performance audits in alignment with professional standards and Office methodologies.
This may encompass, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
- Developing comprehensive audit plans
- Documenting and assessing systems
- Testing transactions
- Evaluating complex information across various subject areas
- Identifying and assessing audit findings
- Drafting report sections that summarize your audit work
Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and developing junior staff through direct supervision, acting as a coach or mentor.
Ideal candidates will possess recent experience in internal audit, program evaluation, policy analysis, or performance measurement, along with a strong background in research and analysis techniques.
Experience in presenting research and analysis findings in written formats (e.g., reports, briefing notes) is essential.
Collaboration experience in working groups or projects is also valued, as is the ability to brief management on complex research and analysis results, both verbally and in writing.
Strong analytical skills are required to assess multi-dimensional problems and audit issues. Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Excel and Word) is necessary.
Asset Qualifications:
Familiarity with SAP and CAAT software is advantageous.
